At Heartland, we understand it’s important for our staff to not only be invested in our members’ financial success, but also the success of the communities we serve. We’re honored to have some of the best and brightest in our local communities as members of our team. Recently, one of our staff members was honored by the Wichita Business Journal as a leader in local business.
Gretchen Loganbill, Branch Manager of Heartland’s Newton branch, was recently chosen as part of the Wichita Business Journal's Women Who Lead in Suburban Business. This is part of a series to recognize women at the forefront of their chosen industries. Nominations for the award are made by the public.
Loganbill was profiled by the Wichita Business Journal as part of the special publication that appeared in the August 16, 2024, edition. Here is an excerpt from that publication.
What has been your career path?
I started in the banking industry in 2008 as a teller in my small hometown of Plattsmouth, Neb. I then went to college and worked for the small credit union at the University of Nebraska as a part-time teller. I then switched gears and started a different role at Great Western Bank as a personal banker. When I moved to Kansas, I started with Heartland Credit Union as a loan officer. In 2017, I then took over as the branch manager at Heartland Credit Union in Newton.
Who are your mentors and how have they influenced your career?
My mentor has always been my mom. Growing up, she played many different roles in the small hometown bank that I grew up in. I spent a lot of time there. She developed relationships not only with colleagues but with customers and the community she served.
Best advice for a woman wanting to enter your field?
Be authentically you and remember work/ life balance
What do you like most about your job?
The best thing about my job is my members. I love getting to watch their lives develop and change.
Congratulations to Gretchen for being named one of the 2024 Women Who Lead in Suburban Business.
