HCU celebrates Building Leaders graduates

December 19, 2019

Identifying and growing leaders in any organization is important. Recently, six Heartland Credit Union employees completed a year-long leadership program entitled Building Leaders.

2019leadersLisa Gamber, Victoria Hemphill, Stacey Paterson, Brooke VanDegrift, Taylor Ward, and Ashley Williams presented their final project on Dec. 17, which focused
on planning and coordinating HCU's annual Community Work Day in October. They also shared take-aways from the program, which had them meeting monthly to learn and discuss a variety of leadership-related topics. The program is coordinated by Michelle Waln, Vice President of Culture at HCU.

“Providing leadership opportunities to our staff is as important for the credit union as it is to our employees,” says Waln. “The Building Leaders program is a great way for us to recognize and develop current staff members that may be the leaders of our organization in the future.”

Staff members were able to apply for Building Leaders in January of 2019. They were chosen based on their application, letters of recommendation, and past performance.
